Wall-mounting flat screen TVs
Many people are choosing to have their plasma or LCD TV mounted to a wall. Your TV likely cost you hundreds if not thousands of dollars and wall mounting needs to be done properly. We have a range of wall mounts to choose from and we know how to wall mount televisions safely and securely. Selecting the correct wall mount for your wall and viewing pleasure is essential. Do you need tilt and/or slide and/or articulation to get the best viewing angle/s? Will the mount be secured to one stud, two, three..? If only one stud will the mount and the wall be strong enough to safely hold the weight of your TV? Are there electrical cables or gas pipes in the wall cavity? A Tiger Antennas’ technician can help you select the very best mount for your wall/TV.
On virtually all installations we are able to run all the cables through the wall cavity so that you do not see any cables underneath your tv. It’s all included in the cost. Costs generally vary from $120 to $350 and this includes materials and labour, connecting to any devices (set-top box, recording devices etc..) and tuning your TV. All you have to do is sit down on the couch once we’ve gone and “test” your new set up.
Whilst there are hundreds of makes and models and there are only three main types of wall mounts.
If the tv is to be installed slightly higher than usual tilt my be required to angle it down slightly for a better viewing experience and/or to avoid reflection from sunlight.

These mounts are a bit more expensive (apart from articulating mounts for very small tv’s which are very cheap to have installed) and allow the angle of the tv to be changed. For example you might have a lounge room with a close-by kitchen or dinning room and you might want the option to angle the tv towards one of those areas.
You can purchase wall-mounts from places like Bunning’s, JB Hifi, Officeworks s etc. However we highly recommend you get the installer to supply the mount. Around 50% of the time when someone has already purchased the mount it is not suitable. The salesperson in the store maybe has sold you a mount that is suitable for the tv but have they seen the room it is to be installed in? have they seen your wall type? Perhaps you have wider studs in your wall and the one you purchased from the shop is only wide enough to attached to one stud. Perhaps you would benefit from a mount with a slight tilt and the one you have purchased doesn’t have that feature. Perhaps the one you purchased doesn’t have safety features that are easy to use. It doesn’t cost any more to get the mount from the installer as installers generally don’t pay retail for their equipment.
At Tiger Antennas we have wall-mounted hundreds of tv’s over the years. We usually suggest we pop out to have a look at your tv (if you have it), the room the tv is to be wall-mounted on, the wall type (ie, giprock, single brick etc..). It’s a free service and we provide you with a fixed-price quote. If you are happy with things we can book it in. We can usually instal on the same day or within a day or two.
